Wedding Ballintubber Abbey and reception in Breaffy House hotel Castlebar Mayo

01st November 2016
Pat and Aoife's wedding was one where they both had a good crew of people around them and squeezed whatever fun they could from it.....a good bunch of people!
I had crossed paths with Pat on several occasions at previous family and friends weddings.....a good guy that's totally relaxed and a pleasure to be around.
His beautiful partner Aoife got ready in Breaffy House Hotel on wedding morning, the wedding venue....surrounded by a lovely team of girls with the super Caroline Coyne looking after their make Caroline, I'm biased in that she's my wife's first cousin, but she's a bit of craic too and such a super make up artist!
The weather on wedding morning was mixed....showers with some sunshine with the weather supposed to deteriorate as the day went on....the omens weren't too good for some shots showing off the beautiful landscapes of Breaffy and Ballintubber but we'd just take what the day threw at us and see what happens!
Ballintubber Abbey is such a charismatic wedding venue and a place that I love visiting....there's a serenity about the place that doesn't stop with it's architecture, but indeed the staff there are very welcoming and and personable.....which is a good thing given the volume of weddings they do!
I hooked up with Andrew Davey at the church who was shooting some footage of Pat and the lads (as well as the adorable Laoise and Oisín (Flowergirl and ring security) but I didn't delay too long with the camera as the girls were pretty much arriving straight after me.
I think the images show how laid back the ceremony was and afterwards, Pat and Aoife let their guests ramble back to the hotel pretty promptly without the customary hand shake at the church doors. This allowed us to spend about 5 minutes taking some images on the grounds of Ballintubber before the rain that was promised arrived with some gutso.
We made the spin back to Breaffy and luckily, the showers had stopped somewhat and allowed us to go straight to the lake and run off some more images with the bridal party. We got about 15 mins before the rain arrived again but thankfully we had the back broken with the photography side of matters and Pat and Aoife were in a position to enjoy some time with family and friends before the bell was rung for the meal.
I enjoyed the banter with a lot of familiar faces at Aoife and Pat's wedding as well as the laid back atmosphere of the whole bridal was an enjoyable day and from what I gather they had a pretty amazing night too!
Looking forward to crossing paths again Aoife and Pat and in the mean time, the very best of luck to the both of you!!

Some images from the day are below and a photo slideshow can be viewed at the bottom of the page!
