Claregalway Hotel Wedding

08th March 2016
Michelle and John were married on one of the best party nights of the year....New Year’s Eve!
A man on a bike could see that these two wouldn’t need much of an excuse to have the laughs and chill out....two very happy out and up for a bit of craic kinda people...bodes for an enjoyable day at work for me!
Fair play to Michelle and John for selecting 12 noon ceremony this time of the year....it allows them the opportunity to take some photos outdoors (weather permitting of course) before it gets dark, as well as always having the time to relax and enjoy the day without clock watching and putting yourself under pressure rushing from church to the venue.
Ironically, St Oliver Plunkett Church where the ceremony was held, was where I started out my alter boy life and have many fond memories of the lovely people there.
Michelle’s preparations took place in Pinewood Grove which is literally a stone’s throw from my home street and fair play to her bridesmaids Lisa, Sara, Katrina and Aioife for their help and assistance with matters when I arrived.
Unfortunately the rain was coming down in spades so we were doing a lot of ducking and diving when we arrived at the church....getting everyone in as quick and as dry as possible was our priority.
The ceremony was the most laid back that I’ve ever witnessed. The priests was from John’s home (unfortunately his name isn’t coming to me now), but he gave a fantastic witty yet thoughtful sermon while having the bride and groom standing back to back on the alter....sounds unusual but it’s something that was effective and had impact on everyone that was present...well done!
After the ceremony we availed of the shelter and warmth of the church for the family portraits before making the journey to Galway Crystral for some bridal photography. Although the rains started to ease up, there was still some heavy showers as well as a baltic chill which meant it wasn’t the most enjoyable day of the year to be outside!
After Galway Crystal, we made the journey to the hotel....however me made one very brief stop outside the Abbey to have one outside image...and we were very luck getting the moody sky that was on display just after a heavy shower.
Finally, Nora and her excellent staff welcomed the bridal party, nourished them, hydrated them, and did everything that a couple could want of a hotel on a wedding day...easy to see why it’s a very successful wedding hotel in galway...their excellent at what they do!
Thank you Michelle and John for being without doubt the happiest couple I was with in 2015.....the banter between the two of you all day, as well as the craic with your friends was something that I thoroughly enjoyed and it was a privilege to be around you and capture everything at close quarters!
I wish you both the very best in Australia and please God we’ll cross paths sometime again when your back in the Emerald Isle....until them, mind yourselves!

Photos of the day are below and a photo slideshow is also available at the bottom of the page
