Wedding Salthill Hotel Galway

16th December 2013

I first met Edel last year when she was bridesmaid at her sister's wedding....roles were reversed with Michelle on her wedding day!
Always good to cover a wedding when your familiar with those involved, and the heart wasn't racing quite as much as it normally does on the morning of a wedding. Add in John Murphy of Avalon Video recording the video, it was a great day!
Thanks very much once again to Edel's parents Mary and Michael for their warm hospitality on the wedding morning. Indeed it was great to meet up with Michelle (chief bridesmaid), I had covered her wedding in October of last year and pretty cool to meet up with couples again after their big day. Edel's home had plenty of visitors, but no stress, pretty good place to be.
After capturing the preparations, it was a short spin to the church in Mervue where the sunshine meant there was a good atmosphere with guests chatting away while absorbing the great summer that we were experiencing. It was at the church where I met William's brother and Best Man David for the first time.....a funny guy who gave possible the funniest wedding speech that I've hear in a very long time. Mervue church is a beautiful place with plenty of room for capturing the ceremony from a multitude of angles. I was reared across the road from it in Renmore, but didn't take in the beauty of it until my later years!
After the ceremony, we took some family portraits in the church before making the spin to the Quad in NUIG for some bridal portraits, and availing of the lovely sunshine that was on display. The Quad is a beautiful place for images and is also a haven on wet days!
Finally we made our way to the Salthill Hotel for a wonderful reception, a fantastic hotel where I've worked quite a bit this year.
Thanks Edel and William for letting me be part of your special day and I hope we cross paths again in the future.

Feel free to watch a slideshow of the wedding at the bottom of this page.
