Wedding in Oranmore Co Galway followed by a reception in the Clayton Hotel

15th September 2016
I love Rosita....simple as that!
I better state that I love my wife and kids too.....but I also love Rosita, such a gem of a lady. We met briefly at Ciara and Denis' wedding last year, and also met up a couple of weeks before the wedding when she called to the studio with Michael, and although we wouldn't be life long friends, she's the type of lady that if you got stuck in a lift with her, conversation would flow with her!
Twas a breezy and damp morning on wedding day, but luckily the weather improved the longer the day went on.
As I mentioned, Rosita is the type of lady that you'd warm to pretty quickly, and seeing who she was surrounded by during her preparations, you can see that she keeps company with similar people. Rosita's sister Dianne was chief bridesmaid and also accompanied by Sandra (whose wedding I'll be shooting next year) and Rebecca....lovely girls and very helpful on wedding morning.
Rosita had selected some of the finest wedding suppliers too for her big day.....the excellent Gerry Harrison from Flower Haven in Oranmore supplied the beautiful bouquets and I met up with my neighbor and Videographer for the day John Murphy of Avalon Video when I arrived at the church in plenty of time.
Clare Kilcarr from I do Candle Lighting had the church looking amazing, and to top everything off, I met the superb Nicola McGuire accompanied by the equally excellent Dave Mongan on keyboards arriving just as I was.....love crossing paths with them and given that the sun was starting to shine, the day was getting better and better.
Michael arrived with his groomsmen Patrick, Martin and Aidan (...possibly the most enthusiastic groomsman I've ever come across for wedding photos....he enjoyed every moment that the camera was pointed at him) and we ran off shots before the girls arrive punctually and Fr Diarmuid Hogan (PP Oranmore) gave a beautiful ceremony. Fr Diarmuid speaks with a lot of passion....the type of man that you'd enjoy listening too....and a very approachable man at that!
After the ceremony, me made the short journey out the road to Maree woods where we had a some refreshments before taking a few photos....again Aidan couldn't eat or drink until we had some photos taken such was his eagerness for same. Indeed, he relaxed after we ran off a few photos and hydrated pretty quickly...possibly too quickly as one of the photos may explain!
The Clayton Hotel was our final stop...a place I like working in, not least of all because of their super wedding Co-Coordinator Karina....a team player who works well with everyone!
I was working late coverage on Rosita and Michael's wedding and I was delighted as it gave me an opportunity to have a chin wag with some couples I had worked with previously....in particular Ciara and Nicola! Two great girls and they were certainly enjoying themselves at this wedding. It was also a bonus to bump into Nessa Cawley....an old college friend whom I hadn't cross paths with in a long time.....all in all it was more like a social event for me as opposed to working at a wedding.
Really enjoyed the few minutes with Rosita and her friends after the meal when we were getting a couple of group shots.......couldn't get a word in edgeways with their singing....but it's moments such as that, that I really enjoy, and feeding off the positive energy that was in abundance.
A man on a bike would see that this was a brilliant wedding and I'm happy that it was such a lovely couple as Rosita and Michael that were very deserving of it....really enjoyed everything about the day and in particular their company. Thanks lads for letting me and enjoy the day with you both as if I was a member of the bridal party....truly enjoyed myself and look forward to crossing paths in the future again.....until them, mind yourselves!!
