Wedding Gort Co Galway followed by a reception in the Salthill Hotel

18th April 2014

Emer and Ken were married in St Colman's Church Gort Co Galway followed by a reception in the Salthill Hotel.
Emer was having some final preparations on hair and make up in Gort when I arrived at her home so I was extremely grateful to her mum Joan, daughter Ava as well as her beauftiful bridesmaids Nessa, Jane and Aileen for there help and assistance on the wedding morning.
I had never worked in Gort Church previously, a beautiful place (almost like a Cathedral), and it was a treat to arrive and hear the superb award winning Nicola McGuire on vocals and backed by the extremely talented Paul Feery (also an excellent vocalist)....and John Murphy on video meant that the omens were good for the day!
It's always a bonus when getting pleasant weather on a wedding day....outdoor photography is a lot less intrusive and occurs at a brisker pace than weddings where your forced to shoot entirely indoors. As Emer and Ken would be passing Coole Park en route to the reception in Salthill, I loved hearing Emer recommend the place for some Bridal Photos. The week of the wedding saw a change for the better in the weather, unfortunately Coole Park had suffered a lot with flooding but we were still able to access it and use it's beautiful surroundings. Fair play to the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen who were up for a laugh and gave me some additional time in the park capturing some images.....I kind of lost the run of myself for a short while, I though Emer looked amazing and took some additional shots there and I'm grateful to the happy couple for their patience...hopefully they're happy with the images and feel it was worth it.
By the time we arrived back in Salthill for the reception, the weather was turning damp....always have a sense of satisfaction when this happens, knowing we got the best part of the day!
Emer and Ken (...& Ava of course), I wish you both the very best and please God we'll cross paths again in the near future!
Some images of the day are shown below and feel free to watch the slideshow at the bottom of the page!
