Wedding Broadhaven Bay Hotel Belmullet Co Mayo

22nd February 2013

Elaine and Gary were recently married in Belderrig Co Mayo followed by a reception in the brilliant Broadhaven Bay Hotel Belmullet Co Mayo.

Majestic is one of many superlatives that you could use to describe the magnificent landscape that this part of Mayo has to offer. I passed Ceidhe Fields en route to Elaine's home and the drive up the cliff was nothing short of spectacular (....and a tad daunting for those of us that has a fear of heights).

Elaine and Gary's wedding was a treat to work at, and I can't believe all the time we had (or rather the time that Elaine, Gary and the bridal party had) back at the hotel before the bell was rung for the meal. Fantastic planning on Elaine's side and the 12 O'Clock ceremony meant that they could enjoy their day without ever feeling that they were on the back foot time wise (....which can often be the case when covering winter weddings with very little daylight).

Elaine's home was a lovely place to be on the morning of the wedding, all in great spirits. Ailbhe (...a little Maureen O'Hara) was a treat to work with and looked just like a little bride herself.

I made the short journey to the church just in time to capture Gary and his best man Marcus' arrival, and not long before the Bridal party arrived themselves.

Belderrig Church is not the largest that you'll come across, but I think it's intimate surroundings added to the special atmosphere that was there.

After the ceremony was over, the beautiful clear skies had disappeared and rain started to fall. We stayed in the church for a couple of minutes grabbing some shots of the new bride and groom before heading next door to McHales pub where Elaine and Gary had their first drink as husband and wife.

I must admit to being a disappointed while it started to rain quite heavily on our way into McHales and there wasn't too much reason to be optimistic regarding outdoor shots, but Michael and Sean who were the two drivers for the Bridal Party (sent from the Broadhaven Bay Hotel....great touch as always) were giving a different forecast and said that matters would be great as soon as they had their pint drunk.....and they were spot on!!

After our shots by the pier in Belderriig and Ceidhe Fields (breath taking place), we headed back to the Broadhaven Bay Hotel. I love working in the Broadhaven, it's a place where staff now how to look after people very well.

With over an hour to spare in the hotel before the bell was rung, we had ample opportunity to get some "fun shots' of Elaine and Gary with their friends.

The speeches were very entertaining, and Marcus gave a great insight to some of Gary's "just my luck" stories.

Thanks Elaine Gary and Ailbhe for being great people to work with....I had a mighty day with some great memories!
