Rachel and Darren's wedding in the Westport Woods Hotel Mayo

29th September 2016
Rachel and Darren's wedding took place in the beautiful village of Lecanvey...a majestic spot with Croagh Patrick dominating it's backdrop.
Rachel's preparations took place in the Westport Woods Hotel, their wedding venue and when i arrived on wedding morning, it was great to bump into Jason Nolan who was looking after the video for the day and we enjoyed our time with Rachel and her bridesmaids Niamh, Nicole, Laura and Niamh....a lovely bunch of girls and who were both giddy and up for a bit of craic! Rachel was surrounded by a lot of beautiful wedding details and some lovely gifts on wedding day and we had some fun capturing these.
It was a fairly short spin to the beautiful church in Lecanvey where I met up with Darren and his groomsmen Keith, Mark, Dave and Neill.....to be specific, it wasn't actually at the church I met them but in the very close by pub Staunton's where they were looking after their hydration needs which is very important on wedding days! I don't think there's a pub in Ireland that's as close to the church as this one....no doubt a busy spot!
The church looked awesome and fair play to Flowers by Ruth for the amazing job she did on it......makes such a difference to a wedding when there's a lot of work gone into it's presentation.
Fr Charlie was the celebrant....a gentle giant and lovely person to be around....makes everyone feel at ease and also has a warm welcome for photographers and Videographers.
After the ceremony, Rachel and Darren along with the Bridal party took a spin to Old Head... a lovely spot where I was looking forward to getting some images, but the weekend that was in it (Reek Weekend) meant there was quite a lot of people there which made the photography and Video somewhat difficult....we decided to have a bit of a picnic before using another beach that was en route back to the hotel. It's gas, Old Head was perfect for photography.....no breeze (we had some shelter from trees etc) and it was a warm humid day.....when we arrived at the other beach which was exposed, there was a very cold breeze blowing and not all that comfortable for the bridal party....we were however getting the lovely back drop of Croagh Patrick!
Our final stop was the Westport Woods Hotel ....a fine spot that also offered us some shelter to grab some final images before Rachel and Darren enjoyed their wedding reception.
Everything about that day was enjoyable, the excellent suppliers (including Anya from Wedding cars Ireland) that they had looking after them right down to the positive manner of Rachel and Darren as well as that of their bridal party....I'm a lucky man to do what i do for a living!
Although Rachel and Darren are living in Liverpool, I hope to cross paths with them again in the future and thanks again lads for trusting me with your wedding photography!
Some images from the day are displayed below and a photo slideshow can be viewed at the bottom of the page.
