McWilliam Park Hotel Mayo Wedding

10th April 2014

Fiona and Padraig are nothing short of a dream to work with!
We spent some time together last year getting some "engagement" images in Ashford Castle and they were extremely good company....laid back, relaxed and genuine would be a good way of describing them. We were very lucky when we met in Cong, beautiful weather, splendid colors on display and surrounded by fantastic landscape....unfortunately the weather gos didn't so us the same favour on the day of the wedding. Storms were rampant all over Ireland and Killala was no exception....however it didn't for a second dampen anyones spirits and indeed Fiona's home was a joy to call to on the morning of the wedding.
Bridesmaids Edel (Fiona's sister), Melissa and Marieta were troopers helping Fiona with her preparations and I enjoyed chatting with her mum Mary who is every bit the Lady that her daughter is!
Killala Cchurch looked magnificent with the beautiful floral and candle displays that very much took in the theme of Christmas....loved the look and ambience to the church. The lads were in equally good spirits when I arrived and it was also good to hook up with the brilliant John Murphy of Avalon Video
who was having the craic with the groomsmen!
We used the shelter of the church after the ceremony to take some family and bridal portraits as the poor weather wasn't letting up, and after this I enjoyed a brief visit to Padraig's grandfather's to grab a photo with him before making the spin to Claremorris. Padraig's grandfather is a good age and although this may have prevented him from making the trip to the McWilliam Park Hotel, it didn't stop him donning a jacket with a button hole from the wedding and making his effort to be part of the day.....love witnessing special moments like that!
McWilliam Park Hotel was equally as Christmassy looking as the church, lovely red colors on display and wedding guests well and truly in the holiday spirit!
Comedienne Frank Forde provided great entertainment during the speeches before the band took over and had the place hopping!
I cherish my job on days like this....being around a great couple such as Fiona and Padraig....witnessing and capturing their life event at very close quarters, and very much feeling the love that the two of them have for each other.
Coincidentally I delivered their wedding album to them today which always brings a small touch of sadness as it's the last official thing we do together from a business point of view......until the pitter patter of time feet arrives???

Fiona and Padriag, delighted that you chose me for your wedding photographer and thanks for being super people to be around!
