Mary & Jason's Wedding Salthill Hotel

11th September 2013

I was very lucky to be covering the wedding of Mary and Jason who were recently married in Newcastle Church Monivea followed by a reception in the Salthill Hotel Galway.
We were exceptionally lucky with the weather we had in late July.....Ireland's a completely different country when the sun shines and photography is a lot easier!!
Mary's home was a delightful place to be on the morning of the wedding and thanks to Mary's Mum Maura and father Kevin's hospitality.
It was great to bump into Caroline Coyne in Mary's home, one of the most delightful and happy out people that you'll come across at a wedding, as well as a top drawer make up artist. Gary Loughlin (Videographer) is equally as jovial and a mighty man to roll up his sleeves and give whatever assistance is needed on the morning of a wedding. I've seen Gary knotting cravats, assisting the bride to close buttons on her dress, arranging button holes as well as sweeping up broken glass....and that's just at the last two weddings that I've worked with him!
Emer, Shari and Aoife were Mary's bridesmaids and they eager to lend a hand to Mary at every opportunity, great girls who were also in might form and ready for whatever the day had in store for them.
I made the short journey to Newcastle church after Mary's preparations, and it was quite simply amazing. Samantha Foran and Louise Collins were responsible for it's wonderful presentation....truly gifted girls.
Jason and his groomsmen Keith, Seán and David were in plenty of time for the ceremony and we spent a couple of minutes grabbing some photos before the girls arrived. A blind man could see how close these guys are....good buddies and game for a bit of fun and craic!
Nicola McGuire provided the church music, and was as per usual top drawer material. I always enjoy bumping into Nicola and she was accompanied by guitarist Paul Freery who is also an excellent vocalist, and between the two of them, they were turning heads into the gallery such was their excellent performances. Indeed it was super to see Mary's dad Kevin joining them for a tune on the fiddle to play his daughter down the aisle.
After the ceremony, we headed into the grounds of NUIG to grab some photos....a beautiful spot with some lovely architecture before making a quick spin to the Prom for a few more shots before reaching our destination in the Salthill Hotel.
Thanks Mary and Jason for being a great couple to work with. I really enjoyed our day together and in particular it was a pleasure to witness at very close quarters the strong relationships that you have with your families....a pleasure to witness and capture! Looking forward to chin wagging in a couple of weeks when we cross paths again!
