Knockranny House Hotel Wedding

01st September 2016
Carmel and Darren were recently married in Ballinrobe Mayo followed by a reception in the Knockranny House Hotel.
There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this wedding.....not least of all, Carmel and Darren being two people that I found very easy to get on with when I first met them a year ago.
Carmel's home is just outside Ballinrobe, and the type of home that I love calling to on wedding days....plenty of character amidst a lovely farmyard. Carmel had made plenty of effort ensuring that history was also present and acknowledged on wedding day....her mum's wedding dress and wedding shoes were on display beside her own, a lovely acknowledgement I think!
Carmel's parents Delia and Paddy were very welcoming and I thank them for their hospitality on wedding morning.....and the same can be said for Carmel's bridesmaids Bernie, Olive, Siobhán and Claire!
After Carmel's preparations, I headed off to the church to capture meet up with Darren and his posse which consisted of Damian, Justin, Fintan and Adrian. They were equally as jovial and laid back as the ladies which helps my job immensely.
Fr Eustace was the celebrant...the consummate Gentleman....such a welcoming and warm presence to him and always a treat to be in his company. I was disappointed to hear that he was moving on to Castlebar from Ballinrobe....although it's not too far distance wise, I do a lot more weddings in Ballinrobe than Castlebar and I'll truly miss crossing paths as regularly as I did with him.
After the ceremony we availed of a pier that was about a 10 minute drive from Ballinrobe...a spot that Carmel and her family used to swim at when she was younger.....I always think it's a good idea to do a shoot where the bride or groom have some emotional attachment, and this was the case for Carmel. We didn't delay too long there as it was quite breezy and the rest of the Bridal Party were over beside the Reek in Westport waiting for us.
The weather was looking ominous over there too but we were lucky and fair play to the bridal party for their efforts in the breezy conditionsthere....10 minutes later they were in their cars and en route to the [url=]Knockranny House Hotel!
John O'Sullivan was looking after the Video requirements for the day and we were both badly in need of a bit to eat when we arrived in was a busy day!
The speeches were entertaining and funny....lots of stories about Darren in his younger days which kept us entertained!
Wavelength were the band that had the dance floor hopping for the rest of the evening followed by the ridiculously talented Ronan Lardner from Galway Bay FM who brought all of the guests kicking and screaming into the early hours of the morning!
Carmel and Darren, thank you so much for trusting me with your wedding photography, you were both a treat to be around and work with and I'll look forward to crossing paths in the near future again!!
In the mean time, mind yourselves!!
