Hotel Meyrick Wedding Galway

16th August 2016
Cilla and Stephen's wedding was awesome!
Thoroughly enjoyed their warm and inviting personalities and they along with their bridal parties allowed me to work in a manner which made me feel that I was very much a part of their wedding day and they seemed to embrace the photography side of matters too!
Cilla's home was a hive of activity when I arrived and as always it was a pleasure to be in the company of Collette Costello who was looking after everyone's hair! Siobhán and Gillian were Cilla's bridesmaids....a treat to be around, in good form and plenty of wise craics (from Gillian in particular) to keep the day nice and jovial!
You can truly say that Cilla and Stephen were childhood sweethearts...thy are also neighbors and Stephen's preparations were three doors down from Cilla's!
Stephen is a gentleman and superb to work with as was his two brothers and groomsmen Jonathan and Simon....the three of them don;t have a West of Ireland look to them....rather they look like three Italians after walking straight from an Italian menswear catalogue!
The lively and giddy Fr Des Forde ensured that Cilla and Stephen's wedding was lighthearted and witty while the awesome Nicola McGuire accompanied by Dave Mongan on piano was responsible for the majestic music and singing that reverberated around Nicola's home church in the Claddagh. Nicola is actually extremely close friends with Cilla and Stephen (Cilla was a bridesmaid at Cilla's wedding) and I'm grateful to Nicola for pointing Cilla and Stephen in my direction for their photography.
After the ceremony, we used the church grounds for the family portraits before the bridal party and I took a stroll across the road and took some images with the Spanish Arch/Long Walk areas as our background.
After grabbing some images there, the rest of our shoot was pretty laid back and we went for a walk up Quay Street arriving in Tigh Neachtain's for a pint! I always enjoy observing how Galway reacts to newly weds....be it the Prom in Salthill or the locals and tourists in Quay Street....there's always a lot of goodwill on display and I never tire of witnessing it.
The superb Hotel Meyrick was out final stop....a place that I love....not least of all because of it's welcoming and accommodating staff, but also because of the abundant photo opportunities that exist both inside and directly outside it's doors. Carmel Dempsey and Brenday Curtin were blasting out a few jigs and reels (...something that Cilla ably participated in soon after arriving) and there was a pretty cool party vibe to the reception!
The Weightless Cosmonauts were the band that had the place rocking for the night...you'd be wrecked after their gigs....the dance floor is always full and rocking!

Thanks Cilla and Stephen for trusting in me with your wedding photography....I hope you happy with same and please God we'll cross paths in the future again!
