Glasson Hotel Wedding Athlone

08th August 2016
I don't have to travel outside of Galway/Mayo too often for weddings....very lucky get a lot of bookings here in the West, but it was a welcome change to make the spin to Strokestown in Co Roscommon for Sharon and Seán's wedding.
Unfortunately the windscreeen wipers were on full blast for the journey up and things didn't look too good for our planned shoot in Strokestown Gardens after the ceremony....but we'd worry about that when the time came.
Sharon's dad Michael met me at the church in Strokestown and brought me to Sharon's home which was about a 10 minute drive from the church. The damp weather hadn't dulled the atmosphere during Sharon's preparations and fair pay to her along with her bridesmaids Carmel, Jennifer and Siobhán for being in such good form.
Michael from JMB Videos arrived not long afterwards and it's always good to meet friendly faces at a wedding.
Sharon looked a million dollars when she got ready, and after running off some images capturing her in her glory, I made the journey back to the church to meet up with Seán and his men. Thanks to his groomsmen Chris, Frances and John for being equally as enthusiastic regarding their wedding photos as the bridesmaids and we ran off some shots outside before the heavens opened and we experienced some more cloudbursts.....and unfortunately Sharon's arrival was just as another one was starting.
The church is Strokeswtown is a fine one....and fair play to the priest Fr John McManus for being both welcoming and helpful when I arrived. As the showers were still persisting when the ceremony was over, we availed of the roof over our heads in the church to get some Family and Bridal Portraits......and after that, the rain seemed to be lightening up and we said we'd chance Strokestown House for some more images.
Luckily, we experienced some more rain there, but there are a few sheltered areas within the house which allowed us to use them.....and not have a dripping wet bridal party.
After our short shoot, we made the journey to the superb Glasson Hotel and Country Club just outside really is a majestic spot for photography. Sharon and Seán used the entrance on the way in for a couple of quick images before meeting their guests and spending a nice amount of time with them....absorbing the wedding day as much as they could before the bell was rung and the guests made their way up to the function room for the meal.

Thank you Sharon and Seán for trusting in me with your wedding photography....I enjoyed being in Roscommon for a wedding and please God we'll cross paths again in the near future!
