Salthill Hotel Wedding

04th March 2016
Things panned out extremely well for Robbie and Martina for their Christmas wedding!
Heavy rains and strong winds were the norm around this period....in fact the wedding I did the day previously, you wouldn’t have put a milk bottle out in it!
The journey to Martina’s home also took a bit longer than normal with some roads closed due to flooding. I’ve a small bit of local knowledge from the Cornamona area however (married a Cornamona woman!!), and hadn’t any difficulty finding Martina’s home. I love Cornamona weddings....the people are so genuine and humble, and indeed the welcome I received from Martina’s parents Nora and Martin was the typical country welcome...always putting others before themselves and doing their utmost to make everyone welcome....such a lovely feeling to walk into a home like this!
The added treat on wedding morning was meeting the ever jovial Caroline Coyne who was looking after the girls make up, and the superb Collette Costello who was on hair duty. Weddings days never run late when your working with these ladies, and they’re brilliant at helping everyone to relax and enjoy their preparations!
Pat Feeney from Wedding Cars Ireland arrived in his beautiful Maserati as I was departing for the church....another True Pro, the consummate professional!
The amount of friendly and familiar faces continued at the church where I met Mike Flannery from the Seabury Studio who was looking after Video duties for the day......always work well with Mike!
Thanks to Robbie and his groomsmen the two Brians and Thadhy for their willingness to spend a couple of minutes grabbing some images just before the beautiful bridesmaids Deirdre Siobhán and Neasa arrived.
Fr Mannion gave a beautiful ceremony and we used the warmth and shelter of the church after the ceremony to capture some family portraits before the journey into Galway.
Being winter, and the limited daylight hours that exist during Christmas, I’m grateful to everyone for getting through the day so promptly allowing us to drive the hour into Galway and avail of the some of the last rays of light on the Prom in Salthill. As I mentioned earlier, the weather the previous day (and weeks) was pretty horrific, but as Martina and Robbie’s wedding day progressed, so did the weather as the photos show!
Thanks so much to Martina and Robbie for throwing themselves into making the most of the weather and grabbing some photos in the Memorial gardens in Salthill as well as the Promenade....and indeed the bridal party for their co-operation and willingness to be out in the cold but dry weather!
Our final stop was the Salthill Hotel where it was great to chin wag with a lot of familiar faces and heat up!!
Thanks Martina and Robbie for trusting me with your wedding photography. I thoroughly enjoyed working with you both, as well as the company of all of those that surrounded you on your special day. I wish you both the very best and I’m sure we’ll be crossing paths in the very near future too!
Some images of the day are below and a slideshow can be viewed at the bottom of the page.
