Galway Bay Hotel Wedding, Andrea & Joseph

19th August 2013

Andrea and Joseph were married in Terryglass (North Tipperary) followed by a reception in the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill Galway.
The newly weds were desperately unlucky on their wedding day in that it was possibly the wettest Friday we've had all summer. Continuous rain lashed down all day without any let up meaning the vast majority of photos were taken indoors. On occasion, this can delay proceedings, and along with the drive from North Tipperary to the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill, one could envisage it being a difficult day for wedding photography.....quite the contrary however!
Andrea and Joseph were a dream couple for any photographer to work with....two very positive people who trusted in those that they employed on their wedding day, and their Bridal party of Olivia, Laura and Sandra (all Andrea's sisters) as well as the groomsmen Shane and the two David's were simply a treat to work with....happy out people all round!
Andrea's preparations took place in her home house which is situated on the bank of Lough Derg.....breath taking is the only words to describe it's tranquil location.
After spending some time with Andrea and her family, I headed off to the church which was very close by and captured the lads and guests arriving before heading back to capture Andrea's departure from home....great when the bride lives close by!
Gaffey Video Productions were covering the Video and it was my first time working with Anthony....also a pleasure. Great to work alongside fellow pros who are competent and cordial in their dealings!
After the ceremony, we used the beautiful church in Terryglass to capture the family portraits as well as spending 10/15 minutes capturing some bridal shots before making the hour long trip to Galway.
Shortly after arriving at the hotel, the Bridal party accompanied me to the conservatory downstairs for some more images. It was when we were down here shooting when the clouds parted and offered some respite from the bad weather. Without any prompting, Andrea lifted up her dress and skipped across the road to the Prom to avail of the outdoor photo opportunities....totally unprompted by the photographer which made matters even more sweet! It's a great of fresh air working with couples who are into their photography and don't mind spending some time capturing images, fair play to ye lads!
Another reason why I love shooting in the Galway Bay is because of their positive and obliging attitude. Understanding that it was an horrific day, and knowing that the bride and groom had a small journey from terryglass to the reception, they delayed the sitting of the meal in order to let the happy couple spend some time with their guests before hand.....a class touch. On occasion I've seen couples arrive at their wedding venue to be told that their meal would take place in 15 minutes regardless of what needed to be completed before hand.....well done Galway Bay Hotel and in particular Declan!
The speeches were very entertaining, as was the music provided by Galway Based wedding band The Conquerors.
Thanks Andrea and Joseph for being nothing short of a treat to work with!!
