Weddings

So what can John McMahon do for you on your wedding day?
I am a Wedding and Portrait photographer based in Headford, Co.Galway (my studio location).Your wedding day will be one of the most joyous and memorable days of your life - and a celebration with family and friends. It is my goal to capture all those “special moments” with your family & friends in a fun and unobtrusive manner.
On the big day, there will be plenty of people vying for your attention. With preparation carried out prior to the wedding day, I ensure that the photography will run smoothly, unobtrusively and with little fuss. It will take as little or as much time as the bride and groom desire. It is your day, not mine, so I listen to your requirements and suggestions so that you get the pictures you want ... and more.
I like to record the finer details of the day - those that have taken a lot of time, thought and planning but are sometimes upstaged on the wedding day. The traditional formals have an important place too, for posterity. Likewise, the informal candid shots reflect the true spirit of the day. And where possible, I encourage location shots as they are a lot of fun and a great resource for bridal party portraiture. But, regardless of weather or location, you will have a photographic diary of the day's events from the small details to the bigger picture.
My day’s work starts in the brides house in the morning capturing her getting ready approximately an hour and a half before the ceremony (depending on how far she lives from the church) and finishes when guests sit for the meal in the evening. I capture everything in between in a relaxed way trying to ensure that photographs are natural, spontaneous and that guests/family don't look uncomfortable in formal poses from centuries ago! If you don't have a videographer booked for your wedding, I can also offer speeches and first dance coverage if requested.
On average, the above work usually takes between six and seven hours on your wedding day. The vast majority of my work however only commences when I download your images to my computer. I tend to average two and a half to three days processing the images, removing blemishes and in general polishing off all those "special moments" captured. I have been using Photoshop for over twelve years and continuously attend courses up-skilling my knowledge of same as new programs become available.
